Who is Sander
Sander Mölder is a classically-trained composer and music producer who honed his skills at both the Estonian Music Academy (MA) and the University of Brighton. His diverse style seamlessly blends classical, contemporary, and dance music.
Embarking on his musical journey as a cellist, Mölder has been a part of various ensembles and musical landscapes. He has since performed at prestigious venues like the Royal Albert Hall in London, the Primavera Sound Festival in Barcelona, and the Open'er Festival in Poland.
In 2011, Mölder was selected to participate in the Red Bull Music Academy in Madrid, a pivotal moment that propelled his musical journey. His debut album, "Matches," captured international attention, earning features on BBC1 shows hosted by Gilles Peterson and Mary-Anne Hobbs. His EP "TIKS 068" not only brought him acclaim but also secured the Estonian Music Award for Best Debut Album and Best Electronic Album in 2019.
In addition to being a solo artist, Sander Mölder is also a renowned producer, having produced the complete studio album "Hands Around the Moon" for the indie band Ewert and the Two Dragons in 2019. He also received critical acclaim for his production on soul and R&B artist Anett's sophomore album "Late to the Party."
Mölder's artistic endeavours extend into the realm of stage productions. In 2014, he co-wrote an opera with Marianna Liik, which garnered critical acclaim and earned a nomination for a musical theatre award in 2015. Collaborating with composer Timo Steiner in 2018, Mölder has since created three ballets: a modern interpretation of Yukio Mishima's "The Temple of The Golden Pavilion," a ballet celebrating the legacy of Louis XIV, and a ballet honoring Estonian chess-master Paul Keres. Currently, Mölder is in the process of developing another ballet based on Mare Kandre's novel "God and the Devil," a satirical fairy tale exploring the concept of the Creation story.
Mölder has also made significant contributions to the world of sync with his music being used in various film, TV, commercials and social media campaigns. Notably, he earned the "Best Original Music" award at the CICLOPE ASIA festival in 2021 for his work on a Perrier Jouet campaign commissioned by Black Cat White Cat Music (Tokyo). His client roster encompasses a diverse range of entities, including the Osaka city council, beauty product companies like Shiseido, DHC, and Empecure, car manufacturers Nissan and Mazda, as well as brands such as Uniqlo, Balmuda, and Oculus Quest. Mölder's expertise in sonic design extends to collaborations with the Scandinavian ferry company Tallink/Silja Line, the Estonian bank LHV, and his credited work for the sonic design of the C2 business conference in Montreal.
